The City of Duncanville received its designation as a Texas Certified Retirement Community by the Texas Department of Agriculture on March 15, 2007.
Emergency Medical Services
DUNCANVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Duncanville Fire Department is the service provider for the Emergency Medical Services in the city of Duncanville and has received numerous awards for their Emergency Medical Service.
The EMS services of Duncanville are part of a prestigious partnership with BioTel and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, allowing BioTel to use data collected by Duncanville paramedics to be used in national studies. All 41 paramedics are certified by the State of Texas, and 19 have obtained the additional license from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The department also has 8 Emergency Medical Technicians and 4 certified EMS instructors.
Duncanville paramedics and EMTs are given ongoing continuing education of the highest quality by the UT Southwestern Medical School staff, providing the community with many of the finest EMS personnel in the state.
The Duncanville Fire Department is also part of a Tri-Cities agreement, where backup ambulances and services are provided by neighboring cities if there is a shortage or an emergency. Additionally, all ambulances are certified as Mobile Intensive Care Units and carry the latest in MICU equipment. These efforts are made to ensure the most advanced life support services to the citizens of Duncanville.
METHODIST CHARLTON MEDICAL CENTER
Methodist Charlton Medical Center is located a few blocks outside the city of Duncanville and
is the primary emergency center for the city of Duncanville. This hospital maintains one of the
busiest emergency departments in the Dallas area. The emergency department is staffed 24
hours a day, seven days a week, employing the finest doctors and emergency medical
personnel in the area. Additional improvements to the center's emergency department were
completed in 2003, allowing the department to double in size (area), maintain more beds, and
add additional units.

RENAISSANCE HOSPITAL
Another emergency medical option for Duncanville residents is the Renaissance Hospital. This
hospital is suited to a wide range of emergency medical procedures including orthopedic
injuries, cardiac problems, respiratory emergencies, and other general conditions.

In additional to the fine medical establishments listed above, the additional hospitals listed in
